NZ’s largest Contemporary art wall
The lightshipBrief —
To create a new promotional to create a platform in order to engage the Auckland public and build social license for the Ports of Auckland as well as utilising port assets to give back to Aucklanders.
Solution —
We created a new contemporary art space for emerging artists on the outside of the Ports of Auckland car handling building.
The Lightship is a 110-metre-long, 13-metre-high light wall, and is made up of seven panels with nearly 8,500 individually programmable LED lights.
The large-scale digital light wall on Quay Street provides Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with a unique place for public art to be enjoyed.
The platform changes artists every six weeks to give a variety of Auckland’s artists the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Results —
- New Zealand’s first large scale light mural for contemporary artists.
- Have displayed ten artists to date on the platform;
