Returning mana to the port

Port of Auckland

Brief —

Create a modern, contemporary rebrand that maintains the existing logo, but develops the design framework to include more elements of Te Ao Māori while acknowledging Port of Auckland’s past, present, and future.

Movement —

The rebrand process was the most inclusive process we have ever been engaged in. It included working with Port of Auckland’s rūnanga group, executive team and our Tohunga (Senior Cultural Advisor), Dr. Pouroto Ngaropo, whose role was central in bridging Port of Auckland’s history with its current outlook, all while future proofing the work for longevity. 

Because of this process, the rebrand helped to spark a renewed sense of ownership and pride that has consequently contributed to driving an internal movement of togetherness and increased productivity, all of which is assisting in returning mana to the port.

  • Repositioned the brand strategy in line with the companies aspiration.

  • Captured the attention of the mayor and Auckland council.
